A rainbow to hang on your bag

of perler beads

What do you need?
Perler beads
a round peg board
a jump ring
a keychain
a lancing device
small bending pliers
small alligator beak pliers

You also need
a piece of baking paper
an iron, steam turned off

The Perler beads have been sitting unused in the cupboard for a while now, and as you can see, we still have plenty. What can we make with them for St. Patrick's Day? A Leprechaun of beads is too complicated, too difficult  for the little monsters. How about a shamrock? A bit boring perhaps, with only green beads.

But then, duh, not difficult at all—a rainbow, of course; who doesn't love rainbows? The little monsters certainly do, and they are in the mood for Perler beads, and also fun: I get to iron! (TIP! If you don't have a keychain, you can also just thread a piece of string through the rainbow).

Here is how to make a rainbow out of Perler beads

First place the outer arch.

Make the second one a little shorter.

Go on but remeber the clouds

Like this seems fine to us.

Fill in the clouds using white.

Iron on medium heat - for 20 seconds.

Then your rainbow looks like this.

Let your rainbow cool completely on the peg board

Carefully remove your rainbow from the peg board.

This is the ironed, melted side.

Iron the other side 10 seconds, for firmness.

Let your rainbow cool again for a moment.

Poke a hole in the middle.

Bend the little ring open.

Hook on the rainbow and the key chain.

This is your rainbow bag charm on one side.

Happy St. Pat's Day to all!
