A veggie hotdog with sauerkraut

Shopping list
1 head of lettuce
a jar vegetarian sausage
4 pre-baked rolls
100 grams of sauerkraut
8 tablespoons of low-fat mayonnaise
2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
1½ teaspoons of sugar
sea salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
fried onions, cucumber, tomatoes

You want something nice and warm for your weekend lunch? Craving something savoury and hearty on your free Saturday afternoon? You want something tasty but it has to be veggie and healthy? Then this is the perfect sandwich for you. Not much work and you can make it as tasty as you like. Design it after your own taste, even our little monsters will eat it! 

How to make a veggie hotdog with sauerkraut

Wash the lettuce and drain it well.

Put the sausages on low heat in own fluid.

Bake the rolls as indicated on the package.

Allow the rolls to cool completely.

While the buns are baking and cool you stir the sauce already

Put the mayo with mustard, sugar, salt & pepper in a boel.

Stir it together until well combined and have a little taste.

Have the lettuce, sauce and the sauerkraut ready.

Cut the rolls lenghtwise open, but not in halves.

Spread some sauce and fill with lettuce.

Fill with sauerkraut if you like it.

Place the sausages in the rolls.

How to plate up the hotdogs

Finally add some mayo sauce on top.

Sprinkle with some fried onion or chopped pickle, or, or, and.

Your hot dog can be served with or without sauerkraut, lettuce or sauce, with extra veg, pickles or onions, so everyone can join in
