Hedgehogs Hibernation

a nature's craft

What do you need?
a small basket
autumn leaves
autumn treasures:
pine cones
chestnuts
acorns
beech nuts
prickly things, fallen from the trees

For a while now we have been searching for Autumn treasure. We found our Autumn leaves near school, a few weeks ago already. We dried them and now we have a fun plan for them. We are making a hibernation spot for hedgehogs. Not real hedgehogs but mini hedgehogs that we found while searching for Autumn treasure.

How to make a dear hedgehog hibernation spot

Ask your Mum if she has a small basket or bowl for you.

Cover the bottom of your basket with (dried) leaves.

Place some pine cones and other Autumn treasure on top of the leaves.

Make the basket nice and cozy for your hedgehogs

How to make the hedgehogs
We saw these spiky things lying under a tree and immediately liked them!
But you can also use chestnut shells to make your hedgehogs

Use thick white crafting paper.

Punch circles out of the paper.

Stick the eyes on the hedgehogs.

Draw black pupils onto the eyes.

Put your hedgehogs cozily in their winter bed.

Happy Autumn!
