It's almost Easter, so we're knitting some more little bunnies and/or hares. In America, small (knitted) pocket dolls are all the rage. Everyone knits little dolls and/or animals that easily fit in their coat pocket. Even older children who would love to take a stuffed animal with them—but think they're too big for it—love the mini pocket dolls. We're making the cute bunnies because it's almost Easter.
But we're starting with a simple, warm sleeping bag, because it can still be chilly at night in April. It's a fun project, it knits up easily, and once it's finished, the monsters will immediately start looking for the little bunnies we knitted a few years ago. Let's see if they fit in the sleeping bag! While we're knitting new bunnies, the monsters will start playing with the sleeping bag. :))
How to knit a small sleeping bag for bunnies first
Cast on 27 stitches.
Knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch.
Knit 4 needles in this way.
Then knit stitch the whole 5th needle.
Purl the needle back and continue knitting like this, knit stitch 1 needle, purl the other side back
Knit til your work measures 15cm long.
Neatly tie off the stitches.
Cut the thread long and stick through the loop.
Pull the thread firmly but do NOT cut it off yet, use the thread to close off the sleeping bag, on both sides
Pin the knitting as in the picture: with the inside out.
Sew the sleeping bag closed on both sides, tie off and cut off the thread.
Turn the sleeping bag inside out again, now with the right side out and it's done, tomorrow we knit Pocket Dolls (Bunnies)!
