120g icing sugar, sieved
1 organic egg
57 ml vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
250g plain or Zeeland flour, sieved
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
A pinch of salt
50g milk chocolate, melted

Today we're baking Snickerdoodle Bear Cookies, using an American recipe. (15 large or 30 small cookies) These cookies are very popular in the USA! They are cute and delicious, but don't bake these cookies too long; they should be a little chewy in the middle. Bake small cookies for 10 minutes; if you make them larger (like we did), bake them for 15 minutes.

How to make Snickerdoodle Bear Cookies

Add the softened butter cubes to the mixer.

Add the icing sugar and mix until creamy.

Beat the egg into the butter mixture until fully incorporated.

Pour the sunflower oil into the mixing bowl as well.

Add the vanilla and beat the mixture until smooth.

Stir flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt together in a clean bowl

Add the sieved flour mixture gradually to the butter mixture.

Fold in the flour until your mixture is smooth.

Add more of the flour mixture and fold it in.

Then add the last flour and fold it in again.

Tip the dough onto a baking mat en knead briefly.

Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1 cm, using a rolling pin

Cut circles out of dough, the heads.

Cut out small circles, the noses.

Cut small circles in halves.

Press noses and ears on the heads.

Place your cookies a few hours up or overnight in the fridge, to prevent them from running out in the oven

Prehet the oven to 180°C

Bake the cookies for 10-15 minutes.

Let them cool on the baking tray ...

Then move the cookies to a wire rack, to cool completely

Meanwhile melt the chocolate in a bain marie

Chop the chocolate finely and melt it.

Stir the melted chocolate briefly.

Using a skewer dab on eyes and noses.

Allow the chocolate on the cookies to dry well.

We'll first brew the tea and then we have a Snickerdoodle Bears tasting!

The weather is very cold but so strange, sun alternating with rain, dark and light change super fast. We see that because of this the cookies greatly vary in colour, but they do taste good. The problem is with the pictures, our apologies for this!

Do have a great weekend!
