Today we're reading a fantastic winter story to our little monsters, The Tale of Jack Frost! A beautiful picture book about a classic figure in British literature: Jack Frost. The story and illustrations are both by brilliant British illustraror/author David Melling. Visit his website to see more of his amazing work.
The story begins when two animals searching for food find little Jack, fast asleep in their freezing Enchanted Forest on the hillside. None of the animals, and even the enchanted trees, can understand how little Jack wandered into their forest, all alone! When Jack wakes up, he doesn't even know how he got in. But he's there, and the animals love him, so Jack gets to stay.
The Unicorn warns the other animals that if Jack could just wander into their forest, others would likely be able to find that entrance too. But would those "others" be as sweet and kind as Jack? Or would the nasty Goblins, who think the Enchanted Forest should really be theirs, now be able to get in too? A funny and exciting story, in both words and pictures!
3+ sparkling icy stars for The Tale of Jack Frost, from our little listeners and their out-loud readers!
