Today we are making red, white, and blue Cake Pops, because July 4th is an American holiday: the Fourth of July. Yesterday we already baked a vanilla cake, but it could just as easily have been a chocolate cake (or a marble cake (chocolate and vanilla)). A store bought cake works also well with cake pops

We have also already made the buttercream; it is currently out of the fridge to come to room temperature :)) So we can start right away. TIP: The shopping list contains links to the recipes for the cake and buttercream.

How to make Cake Pops

Crumble the cake into a large bowl.

Add 2 full tablespoons of buttercream to the crumbs.

Mix the cake and the buttercream until well combined.

  • We cannot give exact measurements for cake and buttercream; it depends on how big and moist your cake is, just try it out
  • The mixture shoul be smooth and supple, if yours is too dry, add and mix in small spoonfuls of buttercream
  • Roll a little ball between both hands and see if it holds it's shape well

Weigh pieces of dough and roll into balls.

Place the balls on baking paper.

Place in the fridge for 20-30 minutes.

Then you melt the Candy Melts, dip in the sticks and insert into the balls
Let the candy melt set for a moment, this goes very fast!

Melt the Candy Melts

Pour it into a small glass.

Dip in the cake pops and tap off.

Dip the cake pops into the sprinkles.

Place the cake pops upright in a small glass and let them dry.

It is hard to choose for the little monsters: red, white, or would it rather be blue?

To everyone celebrating today: Have a Happy Fourth of July!
