How to make a Witches garland

for Halloween

What do you need?
The printed pattern
Scissors
pins
Black woolen felt
needle and thread
A thin purple ribbon
Thin branches
Cutting pliers
Raffia
Cotton thread

We're making a witch garland for Halloween, and everyone can join in. We've already searched for and found thin twigs outside, to make the brooms. We're pinning circles and cones on black felt and we cut them out to sew witches hats. Then we sew a ribbon around the hats and we hang everything from a slong tring. That looks really festive for Halloween! The decorations don't always have to be scary; they can be fun too!

How to make a witches garland

Pin 6 times a small circle (6.5cm Ø) on black felt.

Pin 6x a cone onto black felt to make the hats.

Cut out the cones and the circles neatly.

Fold the cones into a long point and pin them.

Now you can sew the hats closed. We're using embroidery thread and a blanket stitch, but over-hands stitching or using small backstitches are also fine!

Tie on firmly when you start sewing.

Leave a little loop on top of the hats.

Sew the tops firmly on the circles.

The witches hats are basically done!

So now you make the brooms:

Cut 6 twigs to the same size (9.5cm).

Cut off some strands of raffia.

Fold the raffia strands in half.

Stick the twig into the middle and tie on a thread.

Wind the thread around it very tight.

Tie securely and cut the raffia straight.

The brooms are ready too.

Make the hats even cuter by adding a ribbon to them.

Tie the hats and brooms alternately to a string.

All you have to do now is find a nice spot for the garland and wait for Halloween!
